Merry Christmas EVE!!

So this is how the story goes...

Yesterday we were able to drive down to the states to try and pick up a package that didn't make...because of the weather!?!? It was coming from my mom, and was some wonderful Christmas presents!! We, and my mother also, were very upset that it didn't make it considering she paid A LOT to over night it to make sure it was there. Well, like I said, it wasn't. So we thought we would try again on Christmas Eve, since they were open til noon. Well...

We woke up this morning to a TOTAL "white out"!! It was STUNNING!! However, living on a mountain makes things VERY inaccessible! We still thought we could make the trek down...we were feeling VERY confident. So we phoned and phoned all morning trying to "make sure" the package was there this time. We couldn't get a definite answer, so with the weather we opted out of going. So we just hung out and played with little Emma, and gave her a good nap. Around 12 we got a phone call from our friends, who invited us over for Christmas Eve dinner, and they were wondering if we were still going to be able to make it. These are the EXACT words out of my husbands mouth..."A tornado wouldn't stop us from coming"!!

Well, the weather was just getting worse and worse...it NEVER let up. Around 2:30 we decided we had better head out. We got everything we needed and packed up in the car for the trek. We, still, were very confident. So confident if fact, that not only were we going to go to our dinner, but we were going to deliver gifts to our friends on the way. So we pulled out of the parking garage and......

IT TOOK 10 MIN JUST TO GET OUT ONTO THE STREET. Strike one!!


Our confidence is starting to waiver at this point. This picture here is one I took while inside the car heading down the mountain...doesn't really do the conditions justice...but it will have to do!

Ok, so back to the story. Once we got down the mountain and got on the freeway we decided it would be best to hit the Canadian Tire and pick up some snow chains. Strike number two...they didn't have our size. Note to everyone out there: when your husband wants to "pimp" up your vehicle...don't let him do the customs rims and tires-you will NEVER find the right size or shape you are looking for...EVER!! (and it costs A LOT more)

But they did say that the store located right back by our home...of course, had 9 in stock!! So we got in the car and drove to that one. By now, of course, we weren't going to deliver the presents to our friends...we just wanted to make it to dinner safely and know that we would be able to get home.

We finally arrived at that store just for them to tell us they only had 1 more package of snow chains...and they fit a 13" tire...we have 18"!!! STRIKE NUMBER 3!! At that point we took it as a sign to just get home!! We phoned up our friends and let them know...it was SO sad, we were really looking forward to it!! But we just didn't want to risk it.

There was a grocery store open right next to the Canadian Tire, so we ran in there to get some groceries for dinner and began our trek home. We finally made it up the mountain. So we decided to stop and take some quick pictures to show everyone just how much snow we have!!

We pulled into the round-a-bout in front of our place, after a few attempts, just to see the snow plow pass...literally seconds too late!!

We parked in the garage and got out of the car...this is what we saw

I had Emma all prettied up for her First Christmas Eve dinner...and could not, NOT take some pictures...so here she is!!

Emma with her very first present...the animated Christmas Classics (it should have been pj's, but I had them packed with us for dinner...I thought we might have been a bit late getting home-oh well!!

So here it is...our family's very first Christmas Eve dinner....TACOS!!! I bet that is what you all had also!! For a last minute meal...it was VERY tasty!!

It was a VERY eventful day!! We wouldn't have it another way!! It's going to be one we will always remember!!!
